Viewing-point building in Madrid:

The Dutch studio MVRDV designed this building of state-subsidised homes composed by 165 apartments at Sanchinarro’s neighborhood. Conceptually, it is a traditional plot of a city enlargement with different types and common spaces but positioned vertically. The paintings with different colors help to show this great variety of types (9 types of apartments) and uses (the orange paint indicates the circulation spaces, which are like vertical alleys). The large central opening located 40 meters up from the ground with views of the Sierra de Guadarrama is equivalent to the central courtyard where community activities take place. The surrounding neighbourhoods are composed of introverted blocks with small windows and private yards. This building sought alternatives more compatibles with the Spanish extrovert personality.
